Lately I have been obsessed with makeup! I’m talking the last four months or so, I have wanted nothing but makeup. I watch makeup videos on YouTube like they’re going out of style, look up different makeup tutorials, read reviews on brands… I’m out of control. In order to keep myself tamed I signed up for the ipsy glam bag and I got my first one this month! Now I will have makeup delivered by mail every month to give me the fix that I need.
If you do not know what ipsy is then you’re in for a great surprise. For 10$ per month you can get a subscription to receive 5 beauty products picked out just for you. After you sign up they give you a survey to fill out with questions to customize your products. For instance, if you want nothing to do with hair products then there’s a question for that. You can request not to receive any hair products, brushes, eye makeup, etc. It is also customized based on your skin tone.
Sounds pretty awesome, am I right?
Heads up — this is NOT a sponsored post at all. I am not receiving any compensation from this post and my opinion is strictly my own.
Because this was my first month receiving my glam bag I wasn’t picky about much during my questionnaire/survey/thingy. My December glam bag had something for my hair, eyes, lips and complexion.
Check out the video of all the products I got along with me acting a little weird at the same time.
As I stated in my video I also went to Target and got a few e.l.f. brand products. A friend of mine had mentioned that the creamy contour palette was really nice so I wanted to give it a shot. It was obviously meant to happen because I had also read that when you have dry skin you shouldn’t be using powder makeup. Winter is really tough and my skin is always dry this time of year. When you have holidays and you’re going out a lot this isn’t something you want to happen!
Because the powdery makeup can look cakey and doesn’t help the dryness of your skin, creamy products are the way to go. Let me tell you… that cream contour kit is doing miracles for me now! After I use moisturizer and primer the cream contour palette doesn’t crack against my skin the way the powder was. As I stated in the video, I have 3 powder contour palettes but did not have any cream palettes. The e.l.f. cream palette definitely came through for me and I’m taking this as a win!
The other product I bought was the Little Black Beauty Book by e.l.f. This is an eye shadow palette with a lot of warm neutral colors to it. Normally I like to use Bare Minerals on my eyelids and get loose powder, but having an actual palette is a nice change. The colors are very nice but none of them truly stand out. (Hello, it’s a warm palette silly! Can’t consider that a negative). They blend together nicely and it even came with 2 brushes for applying and blending it in.
Overall I feel like my ipsy glam bag along with my e.l.f. products from Target were a huge success.
Are you a subscriber to ipsy? Do you use e.l.f. products? In the comments below let me know what you do and don’t like about either of them. Have a product that you absolutely love and want to share? Please do! I love to hear about other brands and products. Also, since this was my very first makeup review I would definitely love the feedback.
Take care and have a happy New Year!
