If you were asked to describe your personality in under 30 seconds what would you say? Would you be at a loss for words, struggling to figure out what traits are present in you? Or would you be able to describe yourself at the drop of a hat? I have always been the type of person who would draw a complete blank and end up wide eyed fumbling over my own words. If it weren’t for today’s challenge I wouldn’t have done some research to see just what my personality traits are and which ones I’m particularly proud of.
lovebold&bloom compiled a list of 600 personality traits that can be really helpful for a number of reasons. If you’re interested in writing about yourself, people, or fictional characters then you need to know how you’re going to write. Is this person going to be narcissistic? Hot-headed? Is this a person who is well-rounded and thoughtful? You need to have a list of personality traits to truly capture whoever you’re writing about. This includes writing about yourself!
Another reason to keep track of lovebold&bloom’s list is for the purpose of job interviews. Every professional interview I ever went on I was asked to describe myself in so many words. Sure, you could say all the generic things you think they want to hear. Or you can be original and truly stand out by not droning on about how you’re a “hard worker” and “motivated”… they’ve heard it and they’re tired of it.
So what personality traits do I possess that I am proud of? I am…
Ambitious – When I put my mind to something I’m determined to achieve it. I want something done then I get it done no matter how long it takes or how hard it is to obtain.
Creative – I am all about that creative lifestyle. Making ordinary things extraordinary is a thing I strive to do from time to time.
Opinionated & Outspoken – I feel like these two traits can go hand in hand so I’m combining them. I can be opinionated but I’m not a jerk. If conversation veers into dangerous territory (politics or religion) I tend to keep my opinions to myself. There’s no reason to start a fight. However if the topic isn’t controversial then you better believe I’m going to tell it like I believe it.
Clumsy – I am a total klutz! My husband often teases me when we go out to eat because I spill something every single time. There’s been times I’ve gone to pick something up like, say, the remote, and instead of just gripping it the darn thing flies through the air and leaves me grasping at nothing before it hits me in the face. My hands defy the laws of gravity.
Resourceful – Last but not least I can be a resourceful person. I may not know everything but I do know how to find just about anything. Google is my homeboy. I could look up the very same thing as someone else and still find it faster. I have been known to have a few tricks up my sleeve.
Those are just a few of my personality traits, particularly a few that I am proud to have. Yes, even being clumsy is something I’m proud of. It makes life entertaining and it definitely amuses my husband!
So what are your favorite traits about yourself and why? Leave a comment I’d love to hear them!
