Hey guys, welcome back! I don’t want to sound like a broken record here discussing my horrendous week, but it just doesn’t seem to end! After the 3-day windstorm it was time to head to the main exchange on base and buy some much needed supplies. I’m about to have 3 days of snow so a snow shovel is a must. I thought I was finally going to start getting things back on track until I got home and realized that this hell week is never ending.
When I got back home I noticed Arya had gotten into a LOT of stuff off of my desk. A new hair bow that I bought, some post-it’s, and a bottle of Aleve. For those who don’t know, Aleve is considered poisonous to cats and dogs. The vet on base is by appointment only so I had to find a vet off post and get her there quickly. Let’s just say it was a very expensive visit and my poor girl went through a lot today.
The vet tried a couple of different ways to make sure to get any pills out of her system and took some blood work. Although I have to watch her for the next 48 hours I’m sure that she will be just fine. In fact, I’m not even sure that she ate any of the Aleve. She opened the bottle and there were pills on the ground but it’s better to be safe rather than sorry.

On the bright side, the week is almost over! Although I have snow to look forward to for the next 3 days, as long as my power doesn’t go out we’ll be just fine. Even if it does go out I have plenty of blankets and warm clothes to pile over me and the furbabies to keep us comfortable. It’s definitely time to be looking at the positive of things. My roof was fixed and my window should be repaired in 1-2 weeks.
I think that this new year is trying to get all of the bad stuff out of the way for me early. A couple of bad weeks for a solid rest of the year? I can handle that.
On another note, when I went to the main exchange – which is like a mini mall on a military base – I ended up wandering around wanting to buy a bunch of stuff. I found out today that they have Smashbox cosmetics which was exciting. Although I did not buy any I know now for in the future. I did buy some more moisturizer and lotions for my hands and face. The cold has been very harsh on my skin this year. I have difficulty finding moisturizers because I have such sensitive skin. If it ends up being good then I’ll let you guys know!
There is an aisle of bargain buys just like the section at the front of Target as well. Cheap things that you can’t help but buy! This time I found the cutest popcorn cup that looks like a smaller version of the popcorn buckets you get at the movies. Usually I dump my popcorn into a giant mixing bowl and it’s just too big and takes up a lot of space in the dishwasher. Popcorn cup, I’ve needed you all my life. For just $2 you were worth it.
Another item I bought was a pack of sponges for cleaning in the kitchen. They’re different colors (I love colors!) and they were $1. Who could beat a 4-pack of cleaning sponges that also look cute?
Last but not least, this last purchase was actually done on Amazon a couple days ago. Due to the fact that I’m in a rental, there is not a lot that I can do as far as decorating. With old cabinets and countertops there’s only so many things you can do to make your kitchen look good. So this item actually had 2 purposes for me: look pretty & have a purpose. So I bought this utility board!
The utility board is made of glass and very sturdy so it won’t wobble around as you’re trying to cut foods. The size is perfect as well; not too big and not too small. In the worlds of Goldilock’s ‘this one is juuuuuust right!’ While not in use it will make a nice decoration on my counters.
When the utility board arrived it was packaged tightly to ensure that it wouldn’t break. It’s also contained in plastic which you have to take off (obviously) before you start using it. Also be sure that you wash it once before you start chopping up those veggies like a master chef. I think that of this week, this is one of my favorite purchases.
What do you think? Did you buy anything amazing this week? Or do you have a pet story you’d like to share? Leave a comment below and be sure to subscribe for email updates! You can find this awesome utility board HERE!
