Today is day 7 of the 31 day blog challenge! I feel like I’ve been on a roll lately cranking out these posts. Today I got a little behind because I was fixing a lawn care issue. Apparently wanting the service you paid for to come to your house and do said service is asking too much. What’s wrong with me?! So anyway — today’s post is favorite foods!
Before we go into my favorite foods or top foods or any sort of food I want to say that I have had two favorite cooks in my life: My late grandmother and my dad. My grandmother would make the best home cooked meals. She was a meat and potatoes lady. Her chicken and rice was incredible. Thanksgiving stuffing? The best there ever was! I think I have her stuffing recipe down but I wish I could have gotten it from her. Every year I try to make it based on how I remember it tasting. I have to say I’ve gotten pretty good at it.
My dad on the other hand cooks more high end meals in my opinion. At least that’s how I see it. He cooks with wines and makes fancy dishes with truffle oil. Like seriously, what the hell IS truffle oil? He’s also big on wines and can pair the perfect wine to any meal. He’s great at entertaining guests and hosting dinner parties.
So you see I’ve had two different types of cooking in my life. I can’t deny that comfort food is my favorite type of food and both parties have made their own kind. So what is my favorite food?
POT ROAST — Good Golly Miss Molly! Pot roast is such a great comfort food and you can season it so many different ways! Although you can throw it in the oven my preferred way of cooking is with the slow cooker.
RISOTTO — Arborio rice is the greatest thing ever. There are so many different ways you can make it! It is a very time consuming food to cook however, as you need to constantly stir it while it’s being made. My personal favorite is with mushrooms and baby scallops, made creamy with a blend of cheeses.
FRENCH FRIES — Nothing beats the greasy, salty goodness of fries. Crinkle cut, waffle cut, steak fries, seasoned, salty, however you like them they are amazing. No matter what my mood I could always go for french fries. However, they’re not exactly the healthiest of foods. I’ve baked them before and sometimes even go for sweet potato fries. They’re just one of those foods you can play with and not get in trouble! But those who eat fries with a fork I have one question for you — are you even human?
So those are three of my favorite foods! I have plenty of more and I could list them for days, but I figured sticking to a simple 3 would be sufficient.
What foods do you love and why?
